The Little Things
I make a difference, I do… just little things; I like to pick up trash and put it back in trash cans, and I like to hold doors open, especially for the elderly.
As a kid, I always acted older than I was because I looked up to my elders. I liked to hear their stories and learn about them. I grew up being babysat by my grandparents, so I grew up learning that they have a lot to offer. When they dropped me back off at my mom's house, now and then I would hear, “They need to pick up that trash”, or “Look at the park, it's littered with trash”. So, being the influenceable child that I was, would pick up trash at the park whenever I went.
Why I like to hold doors open for people, I could not tell you because I don’t know why; I guess it's because I treat people the way I want to be treated. Treat others with respect and you will be respected, that's the way I think, but there is no rationale for why I think that way. I was raised by good people so I guess it rubbed off on me, but I’m not as good as my family members, they like to talk and joke around with random people to make their day better; My grandmother can make anyone laugh and brighten even the gloomiest people, one time she even gave a waiter a 30 percent tip just because she felt like the person was having a bad day. My Mother and I like to bring products on shelves to the front so people can reach and see them.
Little things like opening a door for someone can make a singular person's day better.
