My Name
In Greek my name means moon, in English it means a name my friends can call me by, and to me it means me. It means pencils scribbling down couplets on chilly white December nights. It means roses blooming after a refreshing sprinkle of April rain. It’s what my youngest sister calls me when she can’t pour her own cup of milk, or reach the double stuffed Oreos on the top kitchen shelf. I was not named after “Girls just want to have fun.” or anybody famous. I was named after a friend. I was named after my mom’s first friend in America. My name is like faith, compassion, and hope. My name is Cyndi.
