Dealing with Gay Marriage
Dear President Elect,
I, Santea, a junior at Meade Senior High School, wish you and your family congratulations on your victory. I understand that there are many things that you have to deal with, but I wanted to know: are you going to be focused on Prop. 8 and gay marriage in this country of the United States? Personally, i believe that we should be able to decide for ourselves, whether or not to become married. If we live in the 'so-called' land of the free and the home of the brave, why is it that we fear the constitutional given right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? This I do not understand. If we can allow the constitutional right to bear arms in an area in which homicide is all but too often witnessed, why is it that we cannot attain the pursuit of happiness? This I also do not understand. If the people of this world would sit down and listen to the stories of those who want to be married, legally, and saw the turmoil and struggle, they would open their eyes and hearts.
Sincerly,
Santea
