Tom goes to Prom
As Tom walks through the halls of his high school he keeps hearing talk about prom. Ugh, how much he hated that word “prom”. He dreaded that day and even worse he didn't have a date to go with. He couldn't go by myself that would be the most embarrassing day of his life. He wants a date but is not willing to put himself out there and make himself more available to the ladies. As he keeps walking through the walls an attractive young lady passes by and begins to talk about prom.
“So do you know who you're going with to prom yet Rebecca?”
“No idea, I just wish someone smart, cute and nice would ask me but I know there’s no guy like that anymore” Rebecca responds.
This could be Toms one and only chance to finally land a prom date and perhaps even date. Tom thinks Rebecca is perfect for him. She is number 5 in the class and also happens to be very attractive and Tom likes to think he’s kind of handsome too. He knew there was no time to waste so he frantically got to know her better. He found his friend James and began to talk to him.
“Do you know anything about that girl Rebecca from your stats class?”
“Not much, she doesn't really talk that much in that class” he responds.
“I’m thinking about asking her to prom but I need to know more about her.”
“Why don’t you just talk to her!” He exclaims.
Oh god, this was his worse fear. He knows eventually he is going to have to talk to her so why not soon. He always psychs himself out about these situations and girls. What if they think that he’s stupid? What if his breath smells? What happens if she doesn't like him…? All these things tear him apart from the inside out. When it comes to school his confidence is sky high! But girls, now girls are a very different story.
“What do you think I should say?” Tom questions.
“Um, I have no idea, try introducing yourself and say that you’ve seen her around school and you think that she is absolutely gorgeous.”
“Do you really think that that will work?” Tom asks again.
“I would imagine! You should really try it that’s what normal people, yanno, do.”
He spent that whole night thinking about what he was going to do. He figured out that he was just going to stop her in the same hallway he saw her before and just go for it. Rebecca was the girl for him, yes she had to be. As the next day rolled around he began to walk in the hallway. He began to sweat. As he saw her approaching he wiped the sweat away from his forehead and approached her.
“Hi, you're beautiful”
Her friend began to giggle and she started to smile. However Tom thought right away why would he ever say that just like that!? He blew it he knew it.
“Well hello I was not expecting that! Thank you very much though”
“Sorry i didn't mean to sound creepy but I thought that I’d just go for it.”
“Go for what?” She questioned.
“I overheard that you needed a prom date and I thought that I’d be the perfect date for you I’m very nice and smart and I know thats what you are looking for.”
“Don’t forget cute” She winks at Tom and he begins to blush.
“So do you think we can go on a date and go from there?” Tom nervously asks.
“I think that would be lovely, here’s my number.”
Tom actually did it he could not believe it. She began to walk away and Tom walked away with the most confidence he has had in awhile. Now he had to call her. He figured that he should wait a little while to call her because he didn't want to seem too desperate. Two days go by and he just couldn't wait any longer. As he begins to call Rebecca he begins to choke up. What would he say? Too late she already answered.
“Hello?”
“Hi” Tom replied.
“Who is this…” She questions.
“Oh crap! Yeah it’s Tom!”
“Oh! I’ve been waiting for you to call me! What took you so long?”
“I didn't want to seem to desperate.” She began to chuckle.
“Haha I wouldn't have cared at all, so whats up?”
“So I think we should go out to eat tomorrow! Maybe Applebee’s?” He asks.
“That sounds great, pick me up around 8. Ok?”
“Yes, yes!” He nervously says.
“Alright we’ll goodnight and see you tomorrow!”
“Ok see you then”
They each hangup the phone and Tom was beyond excited. Maybe he could get his first kiss tomorrow but he obviously didn't want her to know that was his first kiss. Maybe he should ask her to prom while he was out to? Perfect! He immediately began to think of different ideas to blow her mind with. Tom finally came up with a not so crazy but funny way to ask her at Applebeee’s. It was all coming together.
Today was the big day for Tom. All day during school he was thinking about it and of course was getting even more nervous. He saw her like he normally does during school but pretended like he never saw her and continued to talk to his friend James but inside he knew he would have to see her tonight and he had no idea if he was ready. He couldn't concentrate all day thats all he could think about was seeing this beautiful smart girl tonight. Finally 7:30 came and he went to go pick her up. He decided to give himself a little time so he wasn't late to her house and she seemed so happy to see him.
“Hi!! Im excited!” She began to say.
“I know me too!” Tom replied
“Let’s go!”
They arrived and got seated right away which wasn't hard for a Thursday night since it’s never busy during the middle of the week. They had a nice conversation throughout the night and were getting along great! When all of a sudden Rebecca was surprised to some of the waiters and waitresses singing a song to her asking if she would go to prom with him. She immediately began to cry and was so overjoyed. Toms night was ending great and it was just about to get greater. As they left and were walking to the car she stopped him, looked him in the eyes and gave him a big kiss. What a great end to a great night.
“Thank you for such a great night, I didn’t want to admit this but you were my first kiss” Tom begins to admit when she suddenly interrupted him.
“Don’t worry, you were mine as well.”
Tom was shocked. He couldn’t believe it! How could such a beautiful girl not have gotten her first kiss yet!?
“I was saying it for the right guy and it was you. Noone treated me as good as you did tonight and I thank you for that.” She began to cry again.
Now Tom’s night was the best night of his life. Knowing this is how she felt about tonight made him feel ecstatic and he thinks they’ll be around each other for a very long time to come. He brought her home, went back to his house and fell asleep happier than ever.
