On the first day of fourth grade in Brandywine Springs, I was really nervous because it was my first year on the highest floor of my school where all the middle schoolers we're taught. When I entered my classroom, the fear and nervousness of my day were instantly taken away. My Teacher Mr. Fran was so funny and nice; I could tell from the start this was going to be a “Frantastic” year as he would say. He began to tell the class about how he could tell he had a wonderful group to teach, and we were going to have a lot of fun in his class.

As the year went on, I became more involved in class and participated more because of the friendly environment caused by Mr. Fran. He taught us in a humorous and fun type of way; we also had more fun doing our work which really helped me personally to comprehend better in class. Mr. Fran was always funny, and I was always happy to go to his class because it was never boring, and we were always interested in listening to his childhood stories.

One of his stories which ( were my favorite ) was when he told us this one time when he was in second or third grade, he had after school detention; the teacher in the classroom was really mean and strict. While in the classroom he didn't talk or make one noise because he had heard how mean the teacher was. In the middle of detention, he lost a tooth, but he didn't want to say anything because he thought he would get yelled at, so he just let his mouth fill up with blood. A couple of minutes later the teacher noticed how quiet he had been, she offered him a Hershey kiss, but he couldn't accept it because his mouth was full of blood, so he just shook his head no. The teacher insisted that he had the candy for being so good. After she had insisted him to have it he opened his mouth and blood went all over his white school shirt, but he did get to go home early.

My favorite thing about Mr. Fran is he was always funny and happy to see the class whether he was having a good or bad day. I remember on the first day of school, he told us that if we are really bad or break the rules, he would turn into Mr. Narf ( his name backwards). During the year he never turned into Mr. Narf because we were so scared of just the thought.

Throughout all my school years I've had over 30 teachers, and Mr. Fran remains my favorite because of his faith he had in his students. He also always loved his job; he loved his students and the staff he had around him. His stories and lessons always left the class inspired and laughing. I want to nominate Mr. Fran for inspiring me to strive to be just like him; there’s no better candidate for educator of the year.
