Educator of the Year

Senorita Fergo, the teacher I nominated for Educator of the Year, was one of my favorite teachers at my middle school. She was overall an amazing teacher, and she made learning so much fun. She also always encouraged us to be the best. Senorita had many qualities that made her the great teacher she is, but most importantly she was approachable, funny, and entertaining.

Senorita was approachable in a couple different ways. First, we could talk to her about things that happened outside of school: like friends, family, and vacation. Second, we could talk to her without it being awkward, like it is sometimes with other teachers. Lastly, if someone was having trouble with something, she would help them.

Another quality she had was she was funny. If we were talking too much, she would throw a squishy ball at us to make us stop. Another way she was funny was by jokingly kicking us out of the room. When she did this, she wouldn’t let us in until we repeated the password, which was always making fun of us. Lastly, if we kept forgetting the same thing, she would joke about it. She made us laugh almost everyday.

The last quality is her entertaining factor. First, Senorita would make games to help us practice  new material and learn it better. Secondly, we could win tickets and buy prizes by winning those games and doing certain things. Lastly, she would find parodies of songs that related to what we were learning and played them during class. This helped us learn the lessons better.

Senorita Fergo was my favorite teacher; she made learning easy. She always believed in us and helped us by making her lessons more fun. Approachable, funny, and entertaining are the best ways to describe her, but the list could go on. This why I nominated Senorita Fergo for Teen Ink’s Educator of the Year.
