When I was a freshman starting out at Arrowhead High School picking classes was a new experience for me; having so many to choose from was a headache. But after a while; I figured it out. I skimmed the class list and under the engineering wing an autos class was available. But it was available for juniors only which was a bummer. 

So I waited, and when sophomore year came around, I traveled to the North Campus (the building for Juniors and Seniors) and took a tour of the engineering wings. All I could think about was the auto shop. When I got there, I was amazed at the equipment. I thought, I can’t wait to take this class. As the tour continued, the auto shop was the only thing on my mind.

During the middle of my sophomore year, I heard the autos teacher had retired and a new teacher was going to start. Everyone loved the old autos teacher and people talked about how this new teacher has huge shoes to fill.

My junior year rolled by and I was nervous and full of anxiety but I finally was able to take the autos class. When I walked into the class, I saw the only teacher who was bald but could grow hair. Mr. Wesp, I didn’t really know what to think about him.

Throughout the year, he started to show what kind of teaching he was. He made  the class feel comfortable and I think everyone in his class would say that. He didn’t make his class a class I want to get in and get out of as soon as possible. He helped me make new friends. Mr. Wesp became a friend and teacher I can go to for anything. He is a kind-hearted teacher who just wants the best for everyone he meets. Whether we are in the shop working on cars or in the classroom learning or making jokes he is able to make me feel like myself.

Through the year I could tell that Mr. Wesp was the kind of teacher who wants to see every one of his students succeed. I believe that he wants his students to succeed him. He is devoted to helping and taking the time to show his students what they need to do. He never says no to someone in need. He is a gifted teacher who shares his knowledge of vehicles with his students.

So I want to thank you, Mr. Wesp, for making my high school experience that much less stressful and more tolerable, I look forward to next year in your class.
