Encouragement from her teachers in art class is what helped push Lily Puetzer to draw.

“I’ve been drawing since I could remember,” said Lily.

You can take whatever writing utensil you want: it could be a pen, a pencil, a crayon even and draw with it. It just takes a bit of creativity and a piece of paper of course. You could make a card or even a gift with your drawing. It’s also a good choice for when you’re bored because you can just simply doodle and not worry too much about it. Drawing can also help get your mind off of anything that is stressing you out.

So how do you draw or how do you start the drawing process? Well, you’re going to need to know your basic shapes– I’m sure you know those. This is so you can get proportions right and make sure everything lines up.

If it’s something you know you’re going to spend a lot of time on you could use a reference. A reference could be an image you like or something in front of you.

You will probably want a special notebook for just drawing or even a sketchbook instead. You will also want a good pencil and eraser.

What are things that could go wrong?

Well the drawing could smudge if you’re working with pencil, but no need to worry you can always freshen it up by touching it up. Or the page could tear, it’s okay you can always tape it back.

It’s like what Bob Ross said “There are no mistakes just happy accidents.”, it’s good to have that type of thought process with art.
