Somehow I Manage

I was born in 2004, exact date unknown. I use July 1st as my birthday (it’s the closest estimate China gave us). I was adopted at the age of one and by two I received a new brother: worst idea ever. At the age of three, I ate plant fertilizer. I did not die. When I was four, I loved the song “Apples and Bananas” by Barney and Friends. I used to dance and sing all the time; there are even videos of me singing on youtube. I might have been a bit of a “diva”. I made my parents buy me five Halloween costumes because I couldn’t decide. I never lied unless it suited me; I don’t think of it as lying, I think of it as telling stories. My favorite song is “Hooked on a Feeling” By Blue Swede. My favorite holiday is Christmas. In China, we didn’t have Christmas. I don't think that I ever believed in Santa Claus, it all seemed too far-fetched. When I was six I got my own dog. She was a terrier mix and her name was Francine. I named her after a counselor I had at Bible School. She loved to play fetch; she’d play for hours. She died at the age of six, cancer. I was forced to go to a summer school. When I finally finished summer school after 8th grade I made the stupid decision to volunteer there. Just kidding, I actually enjoyed it the first time. On my 13th birthday, I had a huge party in Chicago in a country club. Many old people showed up that I didn’t know. I got a new dog named Marty. He’s my favorite dog. That year was a big year for dogs. We got Marty, Mojo, and Bear that year. One time I got hit in the head with a tomato. I want to do something medically related but I’m worried that I won’t have enough money. Maybe I’ll join a medical program in the military. I want to go to Ohio State. It’s the perfect distance from home so I’m not annoyed by my family but I can still visit. I want to do something special. I don’t want to be forgotten when I am gone. I want to help people and to know that I did something that mattered to at least one person.
