Cleopatra Memoir
Imagine you're a beautiful queen living in Rome.
Now imagine that you had a hand in the deaths of three
of your siblings. Your name would be Cleopatra.
The deaths of her siblings was a tragic, Power grabs, plots, and murder were as much of a tradition as inter-family marriage.
Surprisingly, the murder of her siblings was not the only thing
she had a hand in. She also married her younger brother, whom she
supposedly had a hand in his death as well.
She was a queen, the product of incest, and a murderer.
Now while Cleopatra was born in Egypt she traced her family origins
back to Macedonian, Greece and Ptolemy.
She was especially known for her romance with Julius Caesar
and Mark Antony. Cleo joined Julius in Rome 46 BC and her presence seems
to have caused quite a stir. Caesar didn't hide the fact that
she was his mistress, she even came to the city with their love child. In fact she had four children one love child with Julius and three children with Mark Antony
Many Romans were scandalized when Julius erected a gilded statue for her
in the temple of Venus Genetrix .In fact, Cleo was living in Rome
at the same time as Caesars assassination. In 44BC
she was forced to flee the city after Caesar was stabbed
to death. But by then she had made her mark on the city
with her fashion ,her exotic hairstyles, and pearls which became a fashion trend.
Another interesting fact is that she was the last
active ruler of Ptolemaic Kingdom.
Speaking of last, she took her last breath after she being bit by a snake date in August 12 30 BC. It is widely debated whether took her own life or was a victim of murder herself. But there is no evidence
that Cleopatra is buried in Ptolomaic ruins at Taposiris Magna in Alexandria Egypt.Archaeologists say her remains have been lost for more than 2000years .
In fact she is world known today largely because of a 1963 film about her life.
This was one of the most expensive movies of all time, it was worth 350 million dollars.
I cant imagine living I life quite like hers , can you?
