The Jurassic Quest

‘Twas a bright, sunny, and exciting morning. The sun baking my skin. Everything beamed and glistened. The clean, fresh, crisp outdoors smell flowed through my nostrils. The lot was full of people, all their voices molded together creating a low buzz. Tayden’s voice was filled with awe, wonder, and excitement. His face lit up like a lightbulb. You could’ve looked at dinosaurs swaying their tails and growling with their sharp teeth. The growls were a low menacing sound, something scary, something big. The growls were ricocheted around in my brain like a pinball. Excitement was all pent-up like a rollercoaster at its peak. Tayden’s slender legs shook like branches in the wind sitting in the passenger seat on my mom’s lap. I couldn’t wait for what was coming up next.
 “T, look, it’s a T-Rex,” Tayden exclaimed.
I glanced at the big bulky dinosaur. “Geez, that thing is huge.” I shook my head in amazement.
Tayden looked back at me and asked, “What’s your favorite dinosaur?”
My head tilted engrossed in thought. “Um, I don’t know bud.”
“Just pick one, there are a lot of dinosaurs. My favorite is the T-Rex.”
I had played a prank on him and insulted his intelligence. “My favorite dinosaur is the KWEE- ATKO-SAURUS.”
“That’s not a dinosaur! T, I know you’re doing tricks on me.”
I saw his warm smile lighting the car on fire and his sweet voice full of innocence and love. “Geez, that didn’t work out, you caught me,” I replied
He looked at me with a smug look on his face, “I knew it,” Tayden stated big and bold.
We drove upon a little small dinosaur; the smallest one I’ve ever seen.
“That dinosaur is like you T,” Tayden said when he pointed at the little dinosaur. “It’s like you standing next to your friends,” he said now pointing at the giganotosaurus standing right next to the oviraptor.
I already knew the answer, but I had asked anyway “So, who’s the giganotosaurus supposed to be?”
He smiled and looked at my parents to make sure they were listening. “That’s Kai when he stands next to you, he is waayyy taller than you.”
My parents erupted with laughter. This guy thinks he is a comedian. He did me dirty. “Wow,” was all I could muster on the verge of tears. Just kidding, it was hilarious to me actually. It’s unbelievable how much personality Tayden is gaining. It’s absolutely crazy and he’s growing up too fast. As the wheels of the car were grinding and scratching against the pavement we came upon the triceratops.
“I love this dinosaur,” Tayden stated with his head out the window.
I had saw the triceratops and thought about how great the producers of these animatronics were. “I like it too, it’s pretty big honestly.”
The whole rest of the ride all I heard was Tayden’s voice squealing and laughing full of an everlasting ecstasy. Alas, to finish the day passing by the gift shop next to the exit and all I hear is…
“Can I please, pretty please, get a dinosaur stuffed animal, please mommy!!!” Tayden exclaimed.
I’ll say this was a great day.
