The time I won the spelling bee is one of the most cherished moments. It was back in 5th grade. I was 10 years old and was at the school level spelling bee.The gym where the spelling bee took place was very loud. But when the judges gave the signal to hush the room went quiet.

When the spelling bee started the eliminations were slow then. People were getting eliminated so fast. And most of the eliminations were because of our principal, Mrs. Plowman’s accent. One of the more notable eliminations because of the accent, was somebody’s word was cleaver. The accent made it sound like lever and the person spelled lever. So he got out. But after a while there was only one row left. There were 10 people in a row. At this point I was so nervous I couldn’t stand it. After three more rounds or so there were 4 people left. I got my word correct and everybody else got theirs wrong. At this point the judges were starting to chat. “I don't think they have had this happen before.” I said to myself. After a little while, They had me come up to the microphone. I had to spell one final word. And, I GOT IT CORRECT! I was so happy and excited, I could hardly stand it.

After that I rushed over to go talk to my dad.He was so proud of me. We also took a picture together. We walked out of the gym for a moment. He then proceeded to call my mom. I told her the amazing news. She was very happy and excited for me. She even said she will get me a milkshake. And that’s the story of how I won the spelling bee.

I was taking my picture with my best friend who had gotten runner up. It was the best day of my life. And I hope to have more memories like this. That day changed my life and made me the smart young man I am today. Even though I lost in the next level I was happy that I even made it as far as I did. And remember, if you work hard enough you can always achieve your goals.
