A picture that sits on my white dresser in my white room is a picture of me and my friend over the sunny summer. The picture of the time when we were camping with the tall green trees in the background. Every time I look at the photo it reminds me of the hot, sunny summer day. It brings me joy and reminds me of all the fun we had that day. The photo is a tiny polaroid photo with a white border surrounding the picture. I remember the lake that day was so pretty, windy, and cold. I'm happy that I get to remember that wonderful day through the photo.

It was the last week of August in 2019 when we went camping at Maumee Bay State Park. The day we got there it was scorching hot outside and by the end of the week, it was rainy and cold. The feeling of walking into the air-conditioned camper when it was 90 degrees outside was like jumping in a cold pool. By the end of the night, it was much cooler out so we started a warm bonfire and made perfectly melted marshmallows for the s'mores. Near the end of the week, it had started to rain so most of the fun plans we still wanted to do got canceled. The next morning the wet trees were dripping down with water while the baking sun was trying to dry them. Although it rained, the campsite still looked pretty with the morning sun shining down.

That week because of the humidity outside, my long brown hair was so frizzy and big. I tried straightening my hair on the first day and by the end of the week I gave up and tightly braided my hair so it could stay down. When riding our bikes through the park I could feel the cold wind go through my hair. Every time I went swimming and my hair finally dried it was so frizzy I looked like a lion. If my hair wasn't in a braid it was most likely in my white hat so it didn't look crazy. Probably the most stressful part of the week was trying to figure out what to do with my hair every morning.

I carry this photo because it represents a very fun and vivid memory. The time I had swimming, bike riding, and making smores with my friend is something I will never forget. Even though there were some rainy days we always had other ideas on how to keep busy. Spending time with friends is always so important so you can create memories that will last forever and having my photo with me helps remind me of that special time. If you are ever looking for something to do, inviting friends to go camping is something so much to do and will never get boring.
