Through the different seasons I’ve experienced, there have been examples of kindness scattered through. Notably, there have been many small things along the way; like the time somebody spotted me a dollar at Dels and when the car in front at a drive-thru paid it forward. Little things that definitely made an impact; but the utmost kind thing I can think of is when my mom delivered bags of hope through the JDRF community.

To translate, JDRF is an acronym for Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund and offers support for newly-diagnosed families with type-one diabetes. This being said, we got involved in it with hopes of educating the right people and changing lives. This meant going to conventions, giving speeches, delivering supplies, hosting events, coffee hours, fundraisers, and visiting Children's Congress in 2011 to raise funds for continued research. All the same, these events took planning, time, energy and skill; to which I admire my mom and her ability to do it all.

Not to pat anyone on the back of course, but I believe her underground successes should be recognized in a way I know I can undoubtedly provide. Through the course of roughly ten years she dedicated her time to improving the lives of many; enduring the  tragedies and triumphs of it in the ultimate name of kindness. And as someone who has benefited from both her and the community's work I feel honorably commissioned to finally put voice to it.
