Childhood Colors

Pink was my first favorite color, as a little girl, not knowing what I wanted.

Green was the color of the swings on that old swingset, that I always played on with my sister.

Brown was the color of that even older tree house that I never got tired of.

Blue was the color of the sky I hated to go outside and look at, I was so lazy.

Red was the color of my eyes as I cried when I got a cut, scratch, or bruise.

Yellow was the first color of my walls when I was little, soon to be covered by pictures.

White was the color of my old dresser where I put everything, including stickers.

Pink is now one of my least favorite colors, I'd rather wear anything else.

Green was the color of the swings on that old swingset that was taken down so many years ago.

Brown was the color of that old tree house that I soon got tired of, and was soon taken down, too.

Blue is the color of the sky that I would much rather look at than be in that house I call home.

Red is the color of my eyes as I cry my eyes out; I never get cuts or scratches anymore.

Yellow was the old color of my walls, that was painted over by blue, still covered by posters and pictures.

White was the color of my old dresser that is no longer there, replaced by a much more elegant and mature one.

So much has changed, yet so little.
