it's lack of parrington not guns

Squish ,squish. My black boots sink into the endless mud as I grasp on to the cold silvery metal of the tree stand. “I’ve been waiting to do some bear hunting all this week” I whisper to my uncle, he respond as I see the fog from his breath blow by my face. As I make my way up to the platform of the stand I get high enough to see all around me and to be a squirrel eye view.
I sit down waiting for my uncle to arrive at the top with his camera from the bait site to see if we have any bear that may have passed thru. As I wait I can see directly towards the bait site filled with donuts and candy leaving a mile cent to attract the bear. Once my uncle arrives to the stand he sits down and tells me when I see it, it will look like a black ghost the blackest thing you will ever see in your life it will stick out from anything else in the woods.

I think to myself, please let this bear come out and let me whack it right behind the shoulder for a kill shot. When my uncle pulls out his camera he turns it on but the memory stick was broken so we have no idea if any bear have came thru or not know its the waiting game.

CRACK CRACK my ears perk up as we look to the left to see if it’s the big bear. SNAP, a little twig breaks to my right almost sounding like a squirrel and bear are none to be very stealthy unlike moose that are loud so I knew that it had to be it and then before I know it my uncle squeezes my knee and points to the black ghost. Once we see it, it was so black it was like the midnight sky on the ground. My uncle taps me on the shoulder which means to raise my gun up on it click the safety off and aim and wait for the perfect shot.

I pick up my gun very gently click the safety off and have my crosshairs on it as the bear walks out broadside in between to trees about a foot away from each other and grabs a donut that had fallen of the barrel. My adrenalin is pumping i’m breathing hard and shaking until it unexpectedly turns around starting to jog into the woods. I turn into a stone I held my breath and controlled my shaking as I had the shot and I heard to words and two words I will never forget my uncle say.

“take em out” BANG!!! Smoke fills up my scope and I have a punch to my shoulder as the bear breaks into a dashing sprint into the woods, I lower my gun to jack the smoking hot shell into the woods and another one lodges in. By the time that happens we here rolling and crashing and then a thump as the bear fell down and then dead silence. It was almost creepy I could not hear a thing in the woods after that shot except my heart that was thumping out of my chest and my ears are ringing by the explosion of my gun.

Dang I missed, anger flew threw my body. We both thought we had hit it when it turned but we had to make a shot in between to trees while it was running my uncle said. I could tell by the way he was talking he was very mad almost worst than I was.

As I climbed down the ladder I thought to myself, I would have like to shoot that bear and it would have been very cool but the experience was great. I have never seen a bear that close to me and when I looked through my scope I could see every little detail that was on that bear and I got to shoot at it and see it run.
