Heavenly Hot Chocolate

A long warm cotton scarf, a ten pound jacket filled with faux-fur, three layers of warm clothes layered upon each other, and thick knit gloves. These are all clothing pieces i wore for my day in the city. It was January 2nd, and today my best friend Steffi decided that for her birthday she wanted to go to the city. She invited seven other people to come with her, including me.
Our train came at 9:37 AM. It was my first time taking a train to the Chicago because. We arrived at the Ogilvie station in Chicago at 10 AM. As we got out of the train, the cold wind whacked us right in the face. It was only 34 degrees outside and we were freezing. We decided to first visit The Bean in Millenium Park. " I don't get why its called The Bean." my friend Meredith said. We all just looked at her. Isn't it obvious why it's called The Bean? " Mer, it looks like a big bean obviously" we all yelled laughing. We looked at the bean for about five minutes; there's not much to do at The Bean after about five minutes. We decided to go to The Water Tower Place afterwards. It felt like Antarctica outside so going to a warm shopping center sounded like heaven.
It was 12 at noon and the group was starving. Steffi and I really wanted to try out vegan food. There's a place called The Chicago Diner in Halsted,Chicago that's a well know vegan restaurant around the city. In order to arrive at Halsted, we had to take the bus. The whole group had individual bus passes that we used to get around. One i stepped into the bus, inserted my pass into the slot, and waited for the pass to shoot back out. Then i realized, i just put my pass into the money slot instead. " It's gone. It's gone.", the bus driver said. She was pissed at me. Luckily my friend had an extra pass with her. We got off at Lake shore and Roscoe. We walked for about eight minutes to reach the restaurant. We finally entered the place and it was packed. Every table was taken.
"How long is the waiting?"
" It's gonna take about 35-40 minutes, sorry."
Well it was freezing inside and there was no room inside to wait. So we just headed back. This Halsted trip was useless and a waste of time. We just agreed that the best idea was to return back to The Water Tower area to eat. We passed by Nordstrom as we were walking around. Turned out that this Nordstrom had a food court inside. Thank the God. There was a tiny fast food burger store called Costa Burgers inside. Lunch was on Steffi also. Steffi, Kailey, and I bought veggie burgers on whole wheat bread. We felt healthy after since during the winter no one is healthy. The whole group was so tired from the cold an walking, but we had to move on unfortunately.
"Let's go to Ghiradelli!" We ended the day by walking to Ghiradelli. Ghiradelli hot chocolate was the most enticing, delicious, heavenly, hot chocolate i ever tasted. I purchased the sea salt caramel flavor and I was extremely content with my decision. It was just so creamy and flavorful with just the right amount of sea salt inside. I was in heaven.
