Stepping onto that long runway. The feeling was great, everybody was staring at me. Almost everybody at this meet is from all around the country and Canada. I was the only freshman there and I was also the youngest there. I went back to my mark at 117 ft. I was so excited but I had to remember to stay calm. Before I started off I looked to my left there were my teammates cheering me on. There was only six of us that went on this trip to Pocatello, Idaho. Mary my coach was telling me what I had to do to be able to get into the finals. I looked back and forth from my right to my left. To my left there was nothing but a blank wall. When the judges gave me the go I started my pursuit. My feet hitting with every step on the soft runway. I took 3 long easy strides but once I hit my fourth one I started to gain some speed. I was getting faster and faster, my legs extending farther and farther. The board was in my sights. I looked to my left with my peripheral vision. I saw Mary she was recording all of my jumps on her phone. I knew that this was going to be a great jump. Right as my left foot hit the board I propelled my body forward and upward. My right knee drove through the air and it stayed there for a few moments. Then I began running through the air so. Its the best feeling I have ever had. When my body started to go down I extended my legs out as far as I could. When I hit the soft dirt of the pit I waited for the judge to tell me what my jump was. I had to get a 21 ft. 6 in. jump the judge told me that I missed it by two inches. I was so mad at myself that I didn’t make it to the finals, but I was still happy that I made it into the 21’s.
