My Wrestling Career
Going into my freshman year I was not planning to do any sports because I didn’t believe that I could do the sports that I did in middle school. Then one day my brother Robert said that I should try wrestling, I never was interested about wrestling before so I didn’t know if I should try it. After a couple weeks more and more people walked up to me and told me that I should try it, even the wrestling coach told me that I should try it. So when wrestling season came I went into practice I had no clue what to expect. Most of the team greeted me with open arms and they were happy that I joined their family.
When I started wrestling I was shy and nervous because I did not know what to do. I thought if I messed up everyone would laugh at me because I did not know anything about wrestling. After a couple weeks I felt better about wrestling but I was not ready for a meet. When I went to my first meet I went against a wrestler that was like a monster and I was very nervous. Before I knew it I was on the ground and I had no clue what to do. All of the sudden the referee blew his whistle and it was all over in 10 seconds. I felt so tired but I think it was because i was so upset with myself. I felt like I should quit but something deep inside me something told me not too. After that meet I continued to lose match after match for the rest of the year. But after that horrible year of wrestling, I still loved it.
During summer I trained at every moment I had. I put 110% into wrestling so when it comes to next year I would win for my first time. When it came to wrestling season I was ready to win, on my second match I pinned a wrestler in 2:35. When I was done with my match our whole team went crazy they were jumping up and down chanting my name because they knew it was my first win. After that match I won 3 out of 5 matches that day. For the rest of the season I did great, I had a record of 18 wins and 22 losses as a varsity wrestler. If I did not wrestle my life would not be the same. I would be a different person if I did not wrestle.
