The Stick

It was a nice day just like any other but me and my mom were walking the dog at Rosie’s park. I usually don’t go on these walks because they are boring and there are always older kids there. When I was little I didn’t like older kids for some reason but we were on our way back from the nature trail and I saw this stick on the ground and I just picked it up and started to walk on it like I was an old man. My mom said to put it down but I didn’t listen because I thought, “What could go wrong with just holding a stick?” A little while later I got tired of holding this big stick so when we got back to the car, I couldn’t wait to take it home.

So when I tried to put it in the car my mom looked at me like I had two heads. “What are you doing?” “Taking it home.” “No you aren’t. Drop that stick now.” She got in the car and was waiting for me. I didn’t want anyone else to take my stick I found, so I was going to throw it into a tree so no one could get it, so I looked up and threw the stick as hard as I could straight in the air and it hit the tree and fell straight down right on top of this car’s hood. The lady that was in the car got out and looked right at me so I jumped in the car and yelled at my mom, “GO, GO, GO!” Of course she did the opposite and just looked at me, so the lady came over to the car and started talking to my mom about how it a new car and how I dented the hood, which I didn’t. So after she went back to her car and drove off, my mom was MAD. I tried to tell her that I was aiming for the tree, but she yelled at me for picking up the stick in the first place and said, “If you didn’t pick up the stick when I told you, this would have never happened.” The worst part was she did it in front of a bunch of people that I would later meet in school. So when I got home I couldn’t hang out with anyone and I had to sit in my room all day. I wasn’t that mad because that walk tired me out. So in the end I never threw a stick again.
