As we unloaded the boat on a warm but calm night, the fish were feeding. We were ready. I casted out my line and right as the bait hit the water I felt the bite. The bite, that little tug that gets your hopes up that when you get the line in the fish is a keeper. This was pretty fast since we just got the boat out far enough to let the motor down. We were hammering the little blue gills and panfish. As I casted out and lost my bobber, I set the hook and the boat was pulled. We knew it was a big fish; it had to be a bass.

As I started to pull in the line, he jumped with a fight he started to pull us around the lake. My drag was just going, he was trying to pull us into the Lilly pads, he had his own type of strategy to get free but I wasn’t giving up. Finally we got him close enough to the boat. As I grabbed the net to scoop him up I hear my drag he was pulling away, I slowly start to reel him in and we got him in the boat. I held him up like a trophy. As with every memory moment we had to capture it with a picture. Then it was time to let him go.
