In the cold winter night,  I am unaware whether my body shivers or shakes with excitement. The truck, with white and blue dancing on the doors, pulls up.  Little Pink Shelter engraves on the sides. The polar atmosphere reddens the tip of my nose. I glance around, the smiles that illuminate the faces of my family, blind me.  The excitement that has overcome my body. I couldn’t expect what was waiting for me inside.  A man and woman jump out of the truck. The bitter cold lingers on my tongue. I take deep breaths in and out. Dark trees swallow up the parking lot where we stand. Dark figures of magnificent creatures creep through the branches in the night. The diesel rushes out of the pipes that peak out the back of the truck. Yelps and cries of puppies that blurt out “adopt me!”  Too late for I already made my choice. The woman hands my Dad a packet with the face of my new best friend on the front. My cheeks begin to ache from the enormous smile on my face. My eyes widen with the squeak of the white door, the truck opens. The picture on the packet becomes real because my new friend awaits me at the door. My smile grows wider. When I see her I can tell my life will make a sharp turn for the better. Jumps and sprints all around, excitement fills her and I know we share the same emotions . Cameras flash and snap pictures of these moments that will soon become unforgettable memories. My family finally, full with my new friend who will come home with me tonight. I know this is the best moment of my life because I get to bring home my new best friend Lilly.  My new dog creates my new beginning .
