There we were, finally at the concert of the band that shaped my whole life and childhood, The Foo Fighters. It could not have been better than that because I got to share it with one of my favorite people on the earth and the person I looked up to the most, my dad. My dad and I had always been so close it felt like no matter what stupid or childish thing I did he still loved me more than anything, and that’s why I looked up to him so much.
For as far back as I can remember we both loved the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl. The first time I heard “ Times Like These “ was in the car with my dad at the age of 6, he told me the name of the song and ever since then the chorus has always been ingrained in my mind with the lyrics of the song belting out, It’s times like these you learn to love again, it’s times like these you learn to live again.

Anyone can relate to this song, Everyone has tough times and to get through them sometimes you need to learn that it will get better and whatever you’re sad about can make you remember how much everything else means to you and not to take anything for granted. He promised me that as soon as I was old enough and the Foo Fighters came to Boston and Fenway Park for the first time. Back in 2014 when it was announced that they would be coming to Fenway Park for the first time I told my dad and as soon as the tickets came out we got them, my dream night with my musical heroes was not a dream anymore.

For months on end I played their albums so much that I knew every lyric and chord they played and I was anxious for the concert to come as quick as it could. I anticipated a crazy crowd full of people that love the band as much as my dad and I. But as the Foo Fighters were in Europe Dave Grohl broke his leg when he fell off of the stage. My dad and I prayed that they would still make it to Fenway, somehow they needed to make it there, for some reason I knew there was no way Dave Grohl would let me down. He’s never let me down before, and he wouldn’t this time either. When they announced that they would still make it to Fenway I was ecstatic and the musical throne they made for Dave Grohl almost made them that more badass. For months on end before the concert I played all of their songs over and over again until it was the day, the best day of my life.

And there we were, the lights dropped, the drums sounded, the curtain came up and the Foo Fighters stepped out onto the humongous stage. The crowd came together to belt out the famous tunes and Dave Grohl told everyone to sing it as loud as they can. The crowd all sang out to create a moment that will last forever. The intro of just the guitar and the transition to the fantastic lyrics. I thought to myself, “ it’s times like these you learn to live again,” as I looked at my dad and smiled. This song changed my life for the better by always making me look for the positives in a situation.
