My room was dark when I woke up. No light entered through the crack under my door. I could heard the rain tapping against my window. I heard the low hum of a generator and was soon greeted by an illuminated house. I took my rain jacket off my bedpost and threw it on. I pulled on my rain boots, they still had mud on then from the day before. I ran for the screen door and hurried outside. The cold air filled my lungs as I escaped from my warm house. Pleasantly greeted by the smell of freshly fallen rain.

Water was everywhere! Everything in the yard was engulfed by water. The dark, cold, murky water gathered in the small dips of the yard. As I entered the water the mud swallowed my feet. I struggled to get free, and soon succeeded. The water was deep, and cold. It rushed around me with every step I took. Eventually the water reached my knees, and I didn’t dare go further. I ran around the yard splashing in every puddle I could find. My soaked clothes stuck to my body. My boots carried water filled with pine needles and small sticks. I was tired, and ready to go inside. I caught a cold, and my mom was not happy about me playing in the rain.

This piece was hard to write. I had to put a lot of thought into it.
