Sacramento, My Home
Sacramento, the capital of California, where tourists from all over the world come to the state fair and enjoy the sunny weather, they come to see the beautiful crystal clear river water. I live in greenhaven where from the view of my two story bedroom window I can see all the neighborhood where everyone knows each other by name and greet each other every morning. A walk to the park in the nice warm weather and the slow flowing of the different colored cars relaxes and relieves you from your everyday struggles.
That’s what everybody wants you to think. Instead Sacramento is a living nightmare. In some neighborhoods you close your eyes at night thinking if this will be the last time see your family and friends faces. School is no better, with gang relation, and hallways with the scent of weed. I really live in Meadowview or what they call the south, where drive bys and gang shootouts take place. In Sacramento you’ll get shot or jumped because of the part of Sacramento you come from, Meadowview, Oak Park, Valley ect.
Most people in Sacramento live the rest of their lives here because because they either can’t escape the gangs or because they’ve been killed trying. In every corner there seems to be candles with the names of those who were brutally murdered spray printed on the floor. My whole 14 years i've lived here and things just seem to get worse with every year that goes by. The capital of California should be working to getting its people safe, not ignoring the countless cries of each mother who’s lost their son or daughter to the streets, and the rumbling of the homeless man's stomach.
Sacramento might be our capital, but they have no control of what goes on in this state.
