Voices of LBHS: Language Struggles
In winter break, I visited my aunt and grandparents in Mexico and stayed there for a week. One day, when the weather was nice, we decided to go to the mall to get some things to bring back to the US. I still had a lot of pesos, so now was my chance. One thing that caught my eye was a shoe store that had shoes that were surprisingly cheaper than in the US. I went to ask to an employee for the price in Spanish, but my awkward self started babbling like a baby. My Spanish speaking really needed improvement. It was hard because of the US, where the public language used is English. Every conversation I’ve had with my family and people in Mexico would always start with me stuttering and they would just stare at me in confusion. My cousins would always correct me whenever I misspeak in Spanish.
