Winter

You wake up in a warm bed and see a white blanket covering the world outside. Today is Sunday, which means you’re spending the day at Little Switzerland in Slinger. You pack the van with your family and head off. Outside is the perfect image of a winter wonderland–white trees, sparkly crystals, Christmas lights … You ski for hours, stopping only once to eat a giant pretzel and a cup of hot chocolate. Well past dark, you decide to call it a day. On the drive home, you stop at Culver’s and indulge on juicy butter burgers and concrete mixers.

Spring

Slivers of light shine through your blinds, and you wake in a panic. Shoot, you overslept! In a panic, you rush out of bed at glance at the clock. It’s 5:57 am– your alarm hasn’t even gone off yet. The brighter mornings still catch you off guard, but you smile at the promise of warmer days. Deciding to start your day three minutes early, you open the blinds and your room floods with light. The high is 78 degrees, so it’s a shorts day. You drive to school with the windows rolled down, blasting music and letting your hair blow wild. The Flower Garden in Hartland displays a new quote today: “Flowers make people smile”.

The school day takes years to go by. The first thing you do when you get home is put on your sneakers and take your dog for a run. The warm sun feels good on your skin, and the air is rich with new life.

Summer

Finally, the season of freckles and tan lines. You’re spending the day on Okauchee Lake today. You and your friends take turns whipping each other off the jetski, resting every now and then to reapply sunscreen. For lunch, you stop by at Foolery’s and eat the best burger you’ve ever had. The water is murky and tastes like seaweed, but you couldn’t wish it to be any different. After a long day, the sun finally sets. You dock the boat and a campfire is started. A marshmallow catches fire, and everyone laughs. Your senses are overcome with sweetness as you bite into your smore. This is what heaven feels like.

Fall

The world becomes a canvas full of color as the leaves take on different shades of red, orange, and yellow. You help your dad rake the leaves into neat piles(which your dog demolishes by nose diving into them). Mom has warm cider and cookies waiting inside for when you need a break. Halloween rolls around, and since you can’t decide which haunted house to go to, you go to all of them.

Wisconsin

With each season, there is an entirely different world. From skiing to surfing, the recreational opportunities are endless, and there is always something new to try. If you can’t decide whether you prefer beach days or snow, then Wisconsin is the perfect place to live.
