Dear Me,
Dear Me,
Who are you now? Who were you then? There is no way that I can know who you are, but I would love to know. I wrote this for you. Please, tell me what you think.
Throwing Stones at Brick Houses
Look at me. you can see so many things.
My eyes are blue
My hair curls.
Why, you must know everything about me,
except
my eyes are so blue because there is an ocean of emotion
feelings
words left unspoken
waves waiting to crash forth.
But they don't.
My Name is Adeline
My eyes are blue, and I bet you didn't know why.
My curls dancing down my back
will not tell you
that I am an artist
They will not tell you
I am a singer.
My name is Adeline,
I have curly hair, but it can not speak for me.
You can see plainly from my long fingers
sprouting from my hands
like branches from a tree.
So you must see plainly
that I write
that I draw.
That the fruits of my passions come from these long fingers.
No? I didn't really think so.
Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
I am told.
Well then I am safe, for I am not a glass house.
They can throw whatever they want.
You can't see inside
Unless
You
Open
the curtains
My name is Adeline, I do not live in a glass house. I am not a glass house.
My name is Adeline and very few know me.
But you know me, right Future Me? Please say you know me, because I'm not really sure if anyone does. I hope you liked my poem.
All my love,
- Adeline (2024)
