Can You Hear Me?
I sit down next to you. We share our traditional greeting and you go on with what you were doing. Little do you know that I'm screaming your name in my head. Calling for help, for someone to save me. Can you hear me? Can you hear my pleads? "Ashley please! Don't let me drown in my sorrow. Let me be with you." An aching pain sets in. Gripping my chest and squeezing. I can't breath. I can't see. I can't think. Time has passed and it is time for us to part. The pain has built to a breaking point and a small wince escapes and she asks if I said something and I say no, but I think "I love you."
