Four Shades
My family consists of four different people. Four different combinations. Four hair colors, eye colors, and skin colors.
My Mother’s skin is like a piece of paper with splotches of spilled cranberry juice. Plagued with rosacea, her complexion is often a shade of red. My Father’s skin in sandy. White in the winter, and nicely tanned in the summer. My sister will often describe herself as a ghost. She like porcelain in the winter, and a burnt tomato when she meets the sun light. Lastly, is me. I am the darkest of our family. Not just my immediate family, but my whole family. Year round I am an olive color, but over the summer I will often blend into the wood on my deck. I can feel the heat from the sun on my skin even hours after it sets.
My family doesn't match, but I don’t mind. I prefer variety.
