This has to be the most unexciting bland ride of my life. My dad, my brother, three of my uncles and I went on vacation to Mexico 4 years ago. I don’t know why but my dad decided to go in a car. It was more like a road trip to me. This was my very first time going to Mexico and let me tell you it was nothing as I expected it to be.

Of course when I asked my dad about Mexico he gave me descriptions of it like if it was the most incomparable place around. Only because that’s where he was born and raised. When I say Americans have it good, please believe me. We stopped by the city first. There was a lot of traffic when we passed by. I saw a large number of guys who would come up to a random persons car and start cleaning their windshields. I asked my dad why they did that and he told me that they did it to get money for their families.

Once we passed the city we ended up in a little town called La Union. That’s where my dad is from. I was shocked as soon as I saw where my dad was from. There was no concrete, at all, their roads are just dirt and rocks. In my head I was like “This is what my dad calls beautiful?”. Everyone there was friendly and knew each other. Every time I came across someone they automatically knew I was Miguel’s daughter. I would have no idea who they were.

4 years ago my Spanish wasn’t so good. Till this day its still not that good but I know more. Once I got to my cousins house, where my brother & I were going to stay, I started talking to my cousin in English. I was so embarrassed. He had no idea what I was talking about. He ended up telling me he know absolutely no English. That’s when I told my dad I needed to work on it. My cousin asked me to go to their school one day. Let me tell you I was so excited. Their work is so much harder than here in America. My favorite part was lunch. I went to a high school and over there the school lets you go home for lunch break or stay on the court. They have recess all throughout their school grades.

In Mexico school busses don’t exist. You’d either have to walk to school, catch a taxi or ride with someone who had a car. Their food was so different than the food my mom would make. That’s that both were Mexican food. They really don’t have any fast food places over there. After the first week I started to get use to the way of living over there and I started liking it. On our way back we took the plane, faster way to get back. if I could I would like to go visit again. I wouldn’t want to be from anywhere else than Mexico because if you over look all the wrong things about it, it actually is a beautiful place to live.
