ENTREPRENEURSHIP ESSAY by Tiara Rathi

Within the health and fitness app industry, there is bound to be great competition. The industry includes apps that offer a large variety of health tips, such as diet plans, workout routines, and connecting consumers to workout opportunities. One of the most prominent apps in this industry is the ‘ClassPass’ App run by ClassPass Inc. This app is solely physical fitness centered and provides it users with access to multiple workout opportunities nearby. The app presents most opportunities as different classes in gyms and displays these opportunities in a list format on its home page. The app is currently free, but charges about $45/month for membership. The app is gaining popularity, but is missing an essential key to success.

Its challenger app is the ‘LivingHealth’ app, run by LivingHealth Corporation. LivingHealth Corporation is a recent 2019 startup by Tiara Rathi which is an eco-friendly company that strives to provide customers with safe and top quality products. LivingHealth Corp. targets its products toward all ages to reach its mission toward a larger scale. The release of the innovative ‘LivingHealth’ app depicts this important mission through promoting the environmentally and physically friendly lifestyle it encourages for all.

The ‘LivingHealth’ App is the perfect combination of having a physically and environmentally friendly lifestyle right at one’s fingertips. It consists of two main sections: the ‘Map’ section and the ‘Tips’ section. The ‘Map’ section is the main portion of the app as it is meant to primarily promote a better physical lifestyle for consumers, through highlighting the locations of places for fitness activities on a digital map, making it easier for consumers to visualize the location of nearby workout opportunities as compared to a list. The ‘Maps’ section also displays nearby healthy restaurants, so users can maintain a healthy diet for a healthier lifestyle. The second section, the ‘Tips’ section, also goes along with this concept as it serves as a virtual assistant that notifies the customers of little actions they can do in their day to promote a better lifestyle for themselves and their community. LivingHealth is currently priced at $4.99 and does not charge recurring monthly fees as compared to its competition.

This product is extremely unique from its competition as LivingHealth is a perfect combination of many popular types of apps. It encompasses the features from fitness-promoting apps along with aspects of eco-friendly apps, setting it aside from its competition. The company promotes ‘LivingHealth’ app through community events such as recycling rallies, charities, and donations, further highlighting its eco-friendly mission.  It plans to partner with non-profit charities and foundations and the ‘LivingHealth’ app will often show advertisements of these organizations to users as the charities sponsor LivingHealth Corp., leading to a better reputation. LivingHealth Corp. will also promote other causes with additional organizations and establish its name through sponsoring donation drives and charities of other organizations. LivingHealth Corp. also plans to make ‘LivingHealth’ a ‘global’ app to display healthier lifestyle options in cities across the world.

Separating itself from its competition, the ‘LivingHealth’ app perfectly encompasses the aspects of a physically and environmentally healthy lifestyle. Whether one is concerned for their own fitness or the general environmental welfare, the ‘LivingHealth’ app can assist them in achieving their long term goals. The app is an easy and efficient way to make a difference every day, and LivingHealth Corp. hopes that it will soon become a staple of healthy living.

The author's comments:

In this essay, LivingHealth is the competitor app to the currently popular physical fitness app, ClassPass. I, Tiara Rathi, have assumed the role of CEO of the 'LivingHealth Corporation', or designer of the 'LivingHealth' app. Health apps have always been an important part of my life by improving my lifestyle with small tips each day. This app combines the important physical aspects of major health apps along with providing an environmentally-friendly aspect that aims to improve a community lifestyle as a whole.
