"...no matter what, you keep finding something to fight for."

If someone you love is struggling, the best thing to do is to stay in contact with them and offer support. Not all problems can be solved, so they might just need someone to listen. If they’re okay with it, you could either give them a call and tell them how much you care about them or bring them a gift. Sometimes even little things like a homemade card can mean the most. People who are struggling might need space as well, so it’s important not to take that personally. Make sure you’re both respecting each other's boundaries. Worrying about someone we really care about can make us become a bit smothering, and that might be overwhelming for others. Also, don’t blame yourself or try to fix things all by yourself. This can make things even worse for both of you. Try to remember that you’re both doing the best you can. If things become worse, it may be best to help them find a mental health professional even if they don’t want one. If in the end this does happen, it doesn’t mean either of you gave up, it just means you needed a bit extra help. There’s no shame in that.
