California
It is gray in the city. Cherry blossoms are falling in the rain. Nearby, but far out of reach, the great Pacific rolls over the sand and pulls back into itself. How I wish I were there, walking through the foam, surrounded by long-legged birds, looking out from the cave of my hood. How I wish this storm wasn’t about to roll through. I miss the sun, the sweet smell of salt in the air when you’re on the beach. Days pass by and the sun finally appears back into the wonderful state of California. I’ve never seen surfers be so happy about the weather turning up. I sit on my balcony watching all of them with my dog Roxanne. How I wish I could learn this wonderful talent. I go into a daze watching them. I couldn’t be more relaxed hearing the calming sounds of the waves and the warmth of the sun on my skin. I think to myself…How am I this lucky to end up to where I am now?
