Doctor As a Career
Sarah Sabirah is interviewing Dr. Farah Nasuha who is a doctor about her career.
Sarah
: Hello Dr. Farah.
Dr. Farah : Hello Sarah.
Sarah
: I am thankful that you could spare some of you time for me to interview you.
Dr. Farah : The pleasure is all mine.
Sarah
: What made you want to enter this proficiency?
Dr. Farah : Well, my grandmother used to be sick all the time. She was always hospitalised and I always came and visit her regularly. Every time I go to the hospital, i have this feeling of sympathy to my grandmother and the other patients that were hospitalised there. I felt so helpless. It has become my dream to become a doctor ever since I was little.
Sarah
: When you started this career have you ever thought of quitting it?
Dr. Farah : That’s normal. Yes, actually I do. I remembered every night I would ring my parents and told them about how difficult it is. Medicine is not one easy subject to learn. It is very complicated and takes years to master. But I think the toughest part of me being a doctor is during the housemanship course. It really felt like going back to secondary school. During the housemanship course, we were exposed to all sorts of scenarios of what doctors face everyday.
Sarah
: What would be the scariest or the most difficult part of being a doctor?
Dr. Farah : Even though I’ve never face this before, it’s probably when a surgery didn’t go out as expected. It’s not just to the fact that you were unable to save someone’s life it’s telling the news to the patient’s parents or family members.
Sarah
: What is the scariest moment that has ever happen to you?
Dr. Farah : Actually I think that being a doctor itself is the scariest part of it. The patient’s hope and their love ones for them to get better. But at the end of the day, it’s very rewarding to see that we’re able to cure them. I think that’s the best part of being a doctor I suppose, saving lives.
Sarah
: What do you think about the current status of doctors in the country? Do you think that they are enough or how are they at their work?
Dr. Farah : Actually, I would like to see an increase of in number of young people in this profficioncy. They can always be more doctors anywhere not just in the country itself. To me a doctor is one of the best choice of career. It doesn’t matter where you are or who you are, you’re always wanted. The doctors are actually pretty good but I think, they can always perform better in their work if they become sincere to it. I can see that most of them work as doctors because of the high income. Work can’t be chosen just because of their income but one should also think about how the job can give an impact to one’s life.
Sarah
: Well, thank you very much for your time but i have to go now. If I stay any longer, my parents will be worried.
Dr. Farah : Okay then, have a safe journey.
Sarah
: Bye.
Dr. Farah : Bye.
