Men of Mayhem
I lay on my couch ready to watch my favorite show “Sons of Anarchy”, as I start getting through the show I realize how harsh it is to live the gang lifestyle because its more than just yourself endanger all the time, but also you family and feel that every day is a fight for survival. So why join a gang Anyways?
I’ve been watching the show since last year for the interest of what and how a motorcycle club does and operates. Each episode I watch and how every season progresses, the violence and the reality of it amazes’ me how someone could live like that. The show is about a man in his 30’s struggling to find balance being with his wife, a father of two boys and his affiliation with his motorcycle club. The “Protagonist” Jax Teller goes through his everyday life trying to find ways to benefit his club because he loves and cares for it; soon it leads to his wife and boys. So why not just leave? , but he cannot abandon his club and so he sets out to make his club legitimate but it’s not so easy because his club are too deeply affiliated with the IRA (Irish Republican Army) and won’t let them go from the gun running business there associated with.

Through the seasons of the show his gang affiliation has affected his family, his infant son kidnapped, his wife almost abducted but injured in the process. Also secrets unfold when he finds out who caused them and finds another reason to leave and also realizes that not only people outside his family can cause physical and emotional damage. His stepfather clay ordered a Hit of Jax’s wife because he thought she knew too much about their ties with the IRA, but it failed, Jax was Furious! Also living the life can cause you to make a difficult decision to kill your child. Their rival gang “The Mayans” president of the club gave a task to his son to assassinate Clay (President of the Club at the time) but botched it and soon the Sons found out, both clubs came to terms but the Mayans president had to kill his own son to meet amends.
As of right now the position Jax is in currently is physically and emotionally hurting him but has to keep moving forward. To find peace of mind and comfort he reads his father’s diaries and takes his advice to move in but always keeps in mind his quote. “A true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. The outcome is the balance of Might and Right”- (John Teller). Also still trying find ways to get out of guns by giving the leaders of the IRA to a District Attorney, in return for immunity of all crimes committed by the Sons of Anarchy and to leave the club alone. If it plans out, Jax will find ways to make his club prosper and legitimate and finally get out of the life leaving the club something worth living for.
In conclusion it is difficult for your life to continue when you affiliated with a gang, and does not always puts your life at risk, but you family also and one day they might have to face the consequences meant for you. So my advice to you is to not associate or join a gang because it could make your life miserable and could affect you and everyone around you tremendously
