One of the New York Times Bestsellers, Ender’s Game book, by Orson Scott Card, is now a major motion picture event. A lot of the events in this book were missing or changed in the movie. For example, in the book it said that to get to their station, army, or wherever they have to go somewhere they would have to follow a color pattern. In the movie, it was just one color. First when he first got there, he had to follow the yellow but when he transferred to the salamander army, he started following the green light. I think the directors would make it shorter or take out some events to make it a PG-13 but still have some action in it and to still have it interesting. I think that they should have put more of the events inside to make it more action but I think it was still good.
Well, there was quite a bit of characters. The main character is a boy, Ender Wiggin. He is what you call a “third” in his family. Each family were only allowed to have at most of two children. If they had another one, that child is considered as a “third”. Also everyone had a monitor in the back of their neck. That monitor keeps them safe because they have people watching you to see if you are the one for their special school, Battle school. They prepare you for the attack of the buggers. The buggers are sort of like aliens. Well they prepare certain students for battle, they train them and than they go to the real battle. But if they take it out of your neck, than that means that you won’t have to go with the commanders to go to battle school. In Ender’s family, there was his older brother Peter, and his older sister Valentine. Peter is one of the meanest older brothers you could have. He bullies Ender around like his own stuffed toy. He is like the bad, mean side of Ender. Peter would always tease and bully Ender because he still had the monitor inside of him and Peter didn’t want Ender to be chosen to go to the army. Peter toke his out already. They both hated each other. On the other hand, Valentine, Ender liked. Valentine was sweet and caring. She would always look out for Ender. Ender is in love with her.
Ender was at school and he was going to get bullied by these group of boys because he beat them at a computer game that they did. Ender, instead of being bullied, he fought back and he won. He didn’t just win though, he kept fighting and by fighting I mean kicking. There are two commanders. The main commander’s name is Major Graff. The second one is Major Anderson. There the commanders knew that he could be the one. The commanders came to his house later that day, during the night, and asked for him to come to battle school even though he toke out his monitor. They said that he doesn’t need the monitor anymore because he was already brave enough and they have been watching him since he was little. So he agreed and left with them the next day. When Valentine found out that he got chosen to go to the battle school and leave her, she was devastated.
When they toke him, he meet Bean. He is almost as smart as him. When they first got off they went to their cabin and picked their bunks. Then they met their commander, Major Rackham. He than toke all of them to their practice, battle room. They experimented all their weapons and what they could do. They practiced and practiced and battle and battled against other armies. Bean and Ender tested out their freeze gun. They shot each other to see what would happen. When Major Graff, Anderson, and Rackham noticed how good and smart Ender was, they moved him up another level. He went to the Salamander army where he met his new commander, Major Bonzo. Bonzo didn’t like Ender at all from the start. He didn’t like having a young boy in his army because he thought he was going to mess everything up, his routine, his army, and his strength. There, Ender met Petra. She was the only girl on that army. She was giving Ender some practices during their free time. There after the major’s still seen that he was smart, he up-graded Ender again. This time he gave Ender his own army called the Dragon Army. There wasn’t a dragon army before because there weren’t any commanders good enough and they were to young to battle. In that army, Major Graff put Petra, Shen, Alai, Bernard, and Bean inside his army. They trained and trained. They didn’t lose one battle. They even won their battle against Bonzo. That made Bonzo mad. So while Ender was taking a shower, Bonzo came with his crew and started fighting Ender. Of course, Ender fought back and he killed Bonzo by kicking him back and Bonzo’s head hit the tile floor. He quit for awhile. They noticed that he missed his family so they went down to get Valentine so she could convince him to go back to training, which he did. He got back to training and one time they did their battle. It was the real thing but his army didn’t know that, only the major’s. I was against the buggers and they blew up the buggers entire planet so they won. Ender knew he saw it in his computer game and when he found out that it was real, he got all mad and freaked out. He than went outside and went into the buggers broken ship. He talked to the queen which was dying and told her that he promises he will find a new home for them. All they wanted to do was communicate.

In the movie, they forgot one part that was pretty big in the book. When Ender left, Peter and Valentine made up of Demonthesis. They made Demonthesis like a real person, but really it was just two teenagers writing articles about this person. Also in the book, Bean came in later, but in the movie, he came in, in the beginning. In the book, everyone was supposed to be running around naked, but in the movie, they were wearing white t-shirts.
My opinion on the movie is pretty funny. There was one line when a boy said, “Maybe they cheated” , then another boy replied, ”Your mom cheated, that’s why you look like a plum”. There is some funny parts in this but if you are looking at a comedy movie, I wouldn’t watch this because there isn’t enough funny parts. But overall, the movie was pretty action. I enjoyed it. My opinion on the book is really interesting. I would recommend you to read this because there is a lot of interesting events where you could probably laugh or you would want to keep reading. I suggest you read this book now. Enjoy!
