EOY Contest
The first time I heard about the Educator of the Year contest and the details, Mrs. Smiley, a teacher from my old school St. Ann’s, was the first person who popped up in my head. She was my first choice for multiple reasons. When you hear them, she will be your first choice also.
I chose Mrs. Smiley for her Kind and helpful personality. What I mean by this is that no matter what the day had brought her or what mood she was in, she always showed a positive attitude towards her students. Also, Mrs. Smiley is the kind of person who would take time out of what she planned or had to do and say “If you don’t understand, stay after school or after class and I’ll make sure you do understand”. She would say this even if you asked last minute or right before she was going to do something. This is what I needed the most; the extra help which made me overcome my struggles in math, and I thank her for that.
Mrs. Smiley has a bubbly, joyful, and delightful personality. Every day she would make learning fun. She would teach a lesson and she would make those lessons interesting. She did this by interacting with us so we would learn better or just by saying funny comments about things. She would do this so we wouldn’t get bored and start gazing into space. Mrs. Smiley could make your day better just by walking into her class.
Mrs. Smiley always wanted you to do your best. If you say “I’m going to fail this test” or “I can’t do it” she will tell you that you can, and she motivates you to ace the test or excel in the problems that you don’t understand. She’s that kind of person who wants to see you do well and even go the extra step to do better on tests and quizzes and even school in general. I love the way she would always say “you can do it; just keep trying.”
A was right, yes? Now you know how amazing she is too. Mrs. Smiley is an amazing, kind, caring, helpful, outgoing, and spectacular person. Mrs. Smiley is not just a teacher, she’s a person who I look up to and a person who believed in me when I couldn’t do something or didn’t understand something. I thank her for that. I hope by nominating her for the Educator of the year contest, she sees how great of a teacher and person she is to me. Thanks, Mrs. Smiley.
