How To Buy a Car
Social justice piece-How to buy a car
Buying a new car can be a daunting prospect. But if you prepare yourself well, it can be a fun and exciting experience. There are a few things you need to know and do so you can make a successful purchase. Equipped with these tools, you will soon be driving that car.
When first deciding to buy a car you have to decide if you want a new or a used vehicle. There are a few pros and cons to each one of these choices. With a new vehicle you have a better chance of not breaking down and since you are the first person to own it you know how it’s been taken care of. The only problem with a new vehicle is that it costs a lot more than a used vehicle. The problem with a used vehicle is that you can’t be sure how the car was handled by the previous owner. It may have been in an accident and had to of been fixed. The car may have had a quick fix to it before the owner decided to sell it to make it look cleaner or run smoother. On the upside though, most times when buying used vehicles you can come across some pretty great deals.
The next step in the process would be to determine how much you are willing to spend on the vehicle. If you’re looking to spend less than a used vehicle would more suit your needs. If you’re looking to invest a fair portion of money into this purchase than perhaps a new vehicle would fit your interest. If buying from a private party they will most likely want the money up front in full. When buying from a dealership they'll usually want some sort of down payment and then they'll set up a monthly payment plan. In this situation you may be tempted to pay more monthly to pay off the vehicle faster but make sure that you pick a payment that you will be able to maintain. If you already own a vehicle you may be able to trade in your old one for your new one and receive some credit.
After getting this far you need to start considering the sort of style of car that you want to own and be seen driving around in. There are many different makes and models out there but they all vary in pricing. There are three main types of cars to look at when making this decision. First would be the sports car. While looking sharp, fast and as some might call it sexy, the price on these are usually quite steep. The second type would be the luxury car. While looking calm and cool on the outside, on the inside it’s built for nothing but comfort and relaxation. The price for one of these spectacular cars lower than that of a sports car, but it still is going to run a bit high. The last consideration is a town car. This car is not made to go fast or impress anyone. It’s not meant to turn heads or give you the perfect comfort zone. This vehicle is meant to get the operator of it from point A to point B, and usually with the best gas mileage to. With a town car you are most likely getting the best value for product. The most trusted way to check if you’re paying a fair price or not for any type of vehicle is a website known as “Kelly Bluebook.” The website asks you a few simple questions about the vehicle in consideration and within a click of a button it gives you an estimate of how much the car is worth.
Lastly would be the insurance coverage you would like to have on your vehicle and how much you want to pay on insurance. Insurance costs can vary on even the smallest detail on a car. It varies between a two door and a four door. The price also changes depending on the size of engine that is in the vehicle. The price tends to be lower on a car if the transmission is a manual compared to an automatic. And if the car is used and the previous owner out any type of aftermarket equipment in it, the price of insurance will go up because the cars performance changes with the new parts. You can save yourself money by not getting full coverage but then you are less likely to receive as many benefits if you are in a car accident.
There are many factors that play into buying a vehicle. Some of them are not so bad and some can be the difference between a dependable car and a car that’s worth nothing. Buying a car should be an exciting time in your life. It marks another accomplishment that you can remember throughout the rest of your life. If you do your research and choose the best option for you and your needs, it may be one of your greatest memories.
