Obama vs. Bush- No One's Winning
Obama inks $600M border security bill
Article Published: August 14th, 2010
Washington- President Barack Obama on Friday signed a bill directing $600 million more to securing the U.S. Mexico border, a modest election year victory that underscores his failure so far to deliver an overhaul of immigration law.
The new law will pay for the hiring of 1,000 more Border Patrol agents to be deployed at critical areas, as well as more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. It provides for new communications equipment and greater use of unmanned surveillance drones. The Justice Department gets more money to help catch drug dealers and human traffickers. (An example of what Obama has accomplished.)
I’m proud to say that I’m part of the Democratic Party. However, I can’t say that I’m proud of the way Barack Obama has been handling situations in the White House. As many people can recall from the 2008 elections, Obama promised America that he would solve America’s problems both domestic and un-domestic. People, especially Democrats, thought that it was time for a change, that Obama was a man that would finally set the country straight and fix the mistakes that George Bush had got America into in his past two terms as president. Although, the hard core southern Republican’s still voted for the same party, Obama without a doubt won the election. But, as of 2010 I think the people of the United States that voted for Barack have finally figured out that all he did was sell lies. In which case, in the next election, Democrats that supported Obama might not have the faith for voting for him in 2012.
For Republican’s who believe in nothing else but voting for, and supporting the elephant, and who held on to the good that was left of George W. Bush when he left presidency, are blind to see the major mistakes that he made.
Bush acted slowly upon the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina. He called for help to late, in which case caused: deaths, flooding, and left destruction to houses and to the city to occur. When asked of his late assistance to this tragedy, his reply was he acted as fast as time would allow, and at the uttermost speed.
W., also got us into a huge mess with the Middle East stating that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Billions of people panicked, and because of this, war was on the way to the Middle East. Surprisingly, there turned out to be no weapons of mass destruction (obviously). And George’s excuse to this was simply, the wrong intelligence was given. Now because of this, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan are down each other’s throats threatening one another that they will blow each other up by nuclear war.
The biggest mishap that sent Americans over the edge in 2009 was the economic status that George Bush left us in when he left. So, when Obama became president, he was left with: crashed stock markets, banks and businesses went bankrupt and the so called “fat cats” retired and or left with such outrageous bonuses that made American’s disgusted. Bush’s goal was to sign off on a bill proposed by the Senate for a new Healthcare plan, before Obama took over.
But, as we all know, that didn’t happen. In return, Obama was left figuring out a Healthcare plan that was suitable for all Americans.
In my opinion, Barack is not a perfect president, making mistakes just like everyone. But there’s a fine line between making an error and lying. Obama has made errors, not lies so drastic, that America for once had the notion of giving up hope.
When the stock market crashed it was like the Great Depression all over again. Trying his best to raise America out of its funk, Obama singed many bail out bills for car dealerships and banks in order to regain the economy back, even though Democrat’s thought that these businesses should be taken out back and put out of its misery. Although Obama took a little too long deciding which Healthcare plan would work the best, he ended up choosing a great Healthcare plan.
Barack Obama also amazingly during his first year, managed to win the Nobel Peace Prize which ironically, had all American’s and parties alike, saying “what for?” Even though his plans for the future seem like a dream. He also hasn’t found a solution for fixing the oil spill that occurred in April. And most recently, Obama now vows social security forever.
After all that’s happened in the past two years he’s been the president, he has done something that every party can agree on, he’s slowly but surely moving our troops out from Afghanistan and Iraq.
And in conclusion, I’ve always thought that Obama unlike Bush plays both sides of the parties so as to make everyone happy and content.

I agree with the opinion of the author for the most part.
I believe the single most importand thing that Obama has done is to pass health care. I have known several people who have died because they did not have health care and 2 that have lost all their material possession because they did not have health care. This is just wrong. If the program as it currently written, does not work then make changes to it. By the way, we could easily afford health care if we weren't in 2 unnecessary wars that Bush put us into under false reasons. Bush is the one who lied!
I beleive that the Repbulicans goal is to fight EVERYTHING that Democarts want. This is wrong for Amercia. There is too much hatred from the angry elephant.
Bush left America in the worst recession since the great depression and he has done a good job with what he has been dealt.
By the way, for those of you that are interested, I did not vote for Obama but I agree with what he is trying to do.
I can't stop laughing at the notion that Obama used prudence, foresightedness, wisdom and transparency when he peddled this health care monstrosity to the public to try and rally support for its passage in the senate. It is more of a joke to believe that he has read the 2,000 page bill and then to say that he "ended up choosing a great Healthcare plan".
We're not moving troops out of Afghanistan, we are moving troops out of Iraq. We are moving troops out of Iraq because our troops have succeeded in bringing stability to a nation after toppling the iron-fisted tyranny of a ruthless dictator who slaughtered tens of thousands of his own people. We would not have succeeded in Iraq if not for the surge back in 2007, which Obama opposed saying that it would not work.
I don't understand how you can say that he "plays both sides of the parties", when he constantly attacks, smears and demagogues. The American people did not want this health care bill rammed down their thoats, but he did it anyway, and with the approval of his own conscience. He has spent us into bankruptcy, quadrupling the deficit. He has gotten every single thing except for cap and trade, (which would decimate our economy) and he constantly attacks Republicans for halting progress.
If his spending and regulation do not stop, and if we do not change course and shrink the size of the federal bureaucracy, I have not a doubt in my mind that one day, this economy will collapse, at least in part. Social security, medicare and medicade are all bankrupt with a 100 trillion dollar shortfall, which is more money existant in the entire world, and now he is stacking on top of that the statists dream of entitlement programs: government run health care.
