Most people believe that American teenagers are not careful about internet safety. I am one those people. I think that to solve this problem, teenagers should be forced to check the privacy settings. There are three main things teens are not careful about.
The first thing teens aren't careful about are pictures. Critics would say pictures can't give away too much information. For starters teens could show pictures they wouldn't want their parents to see,for example sowing too much skin. Also, anyone can see the photos you put on there, what if a kidnapper looked at them. Next is that people can change and warp your photos, for one minute you're a boy at a church the next minute you're a donkey in a barn.
Opponent would persuade you to believe that sharing personal information is not a risk. But really there are plenty of risks. Teens might give information to the wrong people. They could also tell people when they're on vacation. Some kids even play the hack me game. This is a game when they give out certain information and tell someone to hack them. This is very dangerous and can end up in your demise. Some people would question how friends could be an issue of privacy. Although not all friends are a risk, some are. If teens don't know who friends are they shouldn't friend them because they could be a rapist or a kidnapper.I know this because my friend thought his address to a 13 year old friend but really it was a robber. Also if one friend doesn't check their settings it doesn't just affect them i affects everyone. Next is that you could tell too much information about your friends.
Yes, some kids don't share too much information on the internet. Some kids don't even have internet. And some teens are careful. some don't have accounts.
But what about all the teens who do! Most kids do have internet. Most aren't careful. Most do have accounts. These are the teens we should help. About 1 out of 30 teens are careful. But we need to support the other 29 kids to be as safe as the 1. We all should do the right thing and support and help these teens before its too late.
This is why we should make websites for teens to check settings. They should make it so they can't share pictures, information,or friends info.
