Sex trafficking is when people are forced into the commercial sex trade against their own will. Sex trafficking among the youth is becoming an immense problem and we are continuing to neglect this issue.

Based on research the average age of children in this industry are 12-16 year olds. And an estimated 244,000-300,000 known children have already been victims of this horrible crime. Sex trafficking is becoming more and more of an issue around the world. Children are being targeted in public places like; shopping malls, schools, movie theaters and much more. The people targeting these kids are called “pimps”. These so called “pimps” can make $150,000-200,000 per child each year. On average each pimp has around 4 to 6 different girls. Sex trafficking also brings in over $ 9.5 billion dollars per year. According to coveringhouse.org the average victim may be forced to have sex between 20-48 times per day.

There are many help and rescue services for victims of sex trafficking but there are still not enough. Many people are not aware of how enormous this issue is becoming throughout the world. According to health and human services there are fewer than 100 beds available in the United States for underage victims. It’s our responsibility to help out these victims and also prevent sex trafficking from growing even larger. There are multiple hotlines you can call if you believe someone you know or you yourself are being sex trafficked. These children need to be rescued and it needs to be addressed quickly.
