Dear Fellow Teen Readers,

I am a seventh grader, almost in eighth grade, and I’m concerned about celebrities and what products they choose to support. I feel this is important because if celebrities randomly choose products they would like to support, just to get the money, they don’t know if the product actually works if it is as good as the company say. I feel like celebrities, should be picky with what they choose so that they know the product and they have actually used it.
My first claim is If you aren’t very familiar with what you are supporting don’t do it. Don’t endorse products you don’t use. Because “Eva Longoria supported a cat food brand, and didn’t even own a cat”(source #2). This shows that Eva Longoria doesn’t actually know if cats like the cat food or if the cat food does whatever they are saying. Also,Beyonce States that shes.. “Excited to be part of this effort that addresses a public health crisis.” Called Let’s Move” (source #1). And Beyonce also is with Pepsi and Pepsi and healthier living don’t go together very well.
My second claim is Although celebrities may choose to support products they don’t know very well, it’s still their decision Because, when it states “Perhaps most famously, Britney Spears signed a multi-million dollar deal back in 2001 but was sacked after being caught sipping on rival Coca-Cola. She was replaced by Beyonce”(Source #2). So this shows that it was Britney’s choice to drink Pepsi to support it or drink Coca cola. This shows that Britney didn’t care much that she was with pepsi and drank a Coca-cola it was her choice. Also,“Simpson signed a $3.8 million contract with Weight Watchers. But It's rumoured the weight loss company were less than impressed when the star announced her second pregnancy before reaching her goal weight”(Source #2). So it show that it was her choice to make it to her goal or not.
An opposing claim could be Celebrities can choose what ever product they want no matter what anyone thinks. But, Even though they do have the choice to choose what they want to support if they don’t know what they are supporting very well, they don’t know what it does that much.

What I would like is for teens reading this to spread the message to others about this topic because if we do then it could make products possibly more trusting so that we can make it true that when we buy a product we can trust that the celebrity that supported it actually has a knowledge of what it does. Thanks for your time!!!

Sincerly,

Kari
