Case Stidy Response: Pro-Gun Control

I support stronger gun control, and everyone in the Unitied States should too. We are not trying to ban guns, we are just trying to take them out of the hands of people who might hurt themselves or others. Every day in the U.S., an average of 289 people are shot. Eighty-six of them die, 30 are murdered, 53 kill themselves, two die accidentally, and one is shot in a police intervention and 100,000 people die a year from gunviolence. Between 2000 and 2010, a total of 335,609 people died from guns - population of St. Louis, Mo. (318,069), Pittsburgh (307,484), Cincinnati, Ohio (296,223), Nawark, N.J (277,540), and Orlando, Fla. (243,195) (Bernie Sanders).

I understand that the people who do not support gun control think it won't help, and that it won't change violence, that people will find another way to get around it, or find new ways in killing others. Those people who do not support gun control don't realize that the U.S homicide rate is a 5.0, and the next highest in Finland is 1.9 (Kate Leach-Kemon). My opinion is people should immediately need to be background checked to see if they are criminals or have any mental illness, and need to sign a contract saying that they will not bring harm to others. Another thing is if someone is breaking in and entering you shouldn't just shoot them where they would possibly die, shoot them in the leg so they will get down, and you will have a chance to call the police and have them handle it because it's their job. I understand some people would'nt want to call the police for personal reasons, they are hiding from the police, they're scared of them, or just don't partically like them.

I really hope this changes your mind and makes you want to support gun control, and realize the people who are strongly against gun violence are not trying to take the guns out of people's hangs who know how to use it correctly and saffely, just out of the hangs of criminals and people who might hurt ones self or others.

What really inspired me to write this piece is seeing articles of people who lost a friend or family member from gun violence. It inspired me because I feel for them, like what if that happend to me or someone in my family, or your family, you would look at things differentley wouldn't you?
