Should High School Be Mandatory?

Many students dropout of high school not knowing the consequences. When they’re a teenager they don’t understand the need of high school. Many don’t realize the importance of high school education for one's future. Should high school be mandatory? America should have a law that mandates everybody to finish their education up to the twelfth grade. After studies of teenagers dropping out, it is known that the ones that do drop out tend to have financial, criminal, life, etc problems. Afterall, high school teaches people to prepare yourself for the real world. Teenagers shouldn’t have the say on what they want to do with their education because they aren’t old enough to understand what they have to go through if they don’t have a proper education.

Education provides everybody with the simple necessities that one needs. In order to keep moving forward, everybody needs the knowledge of how to read, write, and do math. These are necessary to be able to read signs on the road, write letters, do math when you pay for stuff, write emails, read messages and etc. As seen, high school prepares someone to be able to understand their surroundings. A high school education is provided for free in public schools, so teenagers should take advantage of the free classes that are preparing them for the struggles, things that adults who don’t finish high school go through.

High school gives a person the opportunity to prepare themselves with skills that will help them get through adultery without financial assistance. Having an education always gives a person the advantage to get a job. There can be somebody with a higher education, and business owners won’t think twice about who to choose. To be able to survive, one needs to be financially stable. When someone is a teenager they don’t have to pay the bills, which doesn’t give them the proper understanding of what they’ll have to do as an adult. Everything that one's parents does, will transform into their own responsibilities when reaching adulthood. When a student is at school, they don’t realize that they are learning valuable information that can be useful for the real world. It helps students develop skills to solve problems. Everything in America is worth money. In order to get money a job in needed. In order to get a good paying job, people are required to be properly educated. Therefore, when an individual won’t need any financial assistance from anybody else because they are financially stable with their education.

Teenagers need a high school education to be successful. After graduation, a teenager should be able to understand all the fundamental responsibilities that an adult has. Once a person is released from high school, they should have already obtained the cognitive skills that they need in order to teach themselves about the careers that they desire to pursue. Teens need to understand that having just a high school education can get you offly far. After all, there is many people who are successful from just a high school education. For example, the CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, who dropped out of college from only having his high school diploma. He was able to create a very successful company that is becoming the first in America with a networth of 1 trillion. There is a lot of individuals who became successful in a diverse amount of fields and industries with just a high school diploma.   

Even though high school doesn’t provide you with enough of real world situations that allow you to educate yourself from, it does teach you how to commence a task and complete it. High school urges one to explore the diversity of programs, sports, and clubs that they have to offer. This gives an individual the chance to explore their interests and possibly find something to pursue in when they go of to getting employment. Meanwhile, learning valuable skills, an individual will also develop a social life. Teens will gain friendships that will be memorable forever. The friendships that an individual makes in high school are the one that stick with them most.

Therefore, America should mandate a law that makes individuales to keep pursuing an education after middle school. Having a high school diploma opens the doors to a variety of opportunities. After middle school fourteen year olds are too young to decide if they want to drop out. A shortage of education will affect an individual in the long run. A high school education is required for any teen to make a life out of themselves. It’s an essential to having a successful career.

I believe that every teen need to know the knowledge on why school is important for their future. Having a high school diploma can benefit them in the long run.
