How to Get an A+ on TikTok: A Proposal for Education Reform
Dear Professor Teach-A-Lot,
I must say, I am quite passionate about the idea of revolutionizing education, and I believe that TikTok and YouTube are the way to do it. The traditional way of learning in a classroom is outdated and uninspiring, and I have some radical proposals that I think you should hear.
As a student, I know firsthand that learning can be a tedious and mundane task. Who wants to sit through lectures and take notes when we could be creating engaging content on TikTok and YouTube? Why should we read about history when we could make history by creating viral videos about significant events? Instead of writing essays about literature, why not analyze the deep meanings behind viral YouTube videos? And as for math, let's ditch the equations and formulas and create TikTok dances that help us remember them.
I understand that the idea of completely doing away with grades and tests might be hard to accept, but hear me out. Who needs to be judged on their knowledge when we could just showcase our creativity and personality? Let's let our TikTok and YouTube accounts be our report cards, and the number of likes and followers be our measure of success.
You might be wondering about critical thinking and analysis, but I have a solution for that too. We could make videos debating various topics, like whether pineapple belongs on pizza or not. And we could use our editing skills to make ourselves sound smarter than we actually are.
But that's not all, Professor. I suggest we hold our classes in a more relaxed environment, like a local cafe or a park. Who wants to sit in a stuffy classroom when we could be enjoying the fresh air and a refreshing smoothie? And while we're at it, let's forget about attendance policies. If we're truly passionate about learning, we'll make the effort to show up, right? And if we don't, well, that's just a reflection of our lack of interest, not our intelligence.
I know this might sound radical, but times are changing, and we need to adapt. Think about the potential for social media influence! We could be the pioneers of a whole new genre of educational content. Who knows, maybe one day we'll be as famous as the Kardashians!
In conclusion, I hope you will consider my proposals and join me in this educational revolution. We can create a new and exciting way of learning that will inspire students and capture their imagination. I'm already planning my first viral TikTok video about the history of calculus, and I could use some pointers from you, Professor. So what do you say, are you in?
Sincerely,
Your favorite student (I'm sure)
Self Reflection
As a student, I found it both challenging and rewarding to model my essay after "Attention TikTok Parents: Nobody told you to have kids" by Mary Louisa Cappelli. The biggest challenge I faced was trying to incorporate humor into my essay while also making a serious proposal. It was difficult to find the right balance between being entertaining and making a valid point.
However, the most rewarding part of the experience was being able to use my creativity to present a unique perspective on education. I was able to express my ideas in a way that was different from the traditional academic format. I found it liberating to be able to use humor to convey a message.
Reading Cappelli's essay was helpful in providing me with a model to follow. Her essay was well-structured and had a clear message. It helped me to understand how to effectively use humor in my writing, and how to make a serious proposal while still being entertaining.
However, I also had to branch off from the model in some ways to be true to my topic and main point. Unlike Cappelli's essay, which focused on parenting and TikTok, my essay proposed replacing social media with school work. This meant that I had to approach the topic from a different angle and use different examples to support my proposal. I had to consider how to present my proposal in a way that was relevant to students and their experiences.
In conclusion, modeling my essay after Cappelli's was both difficult and gratifying. Her essay provided a helpful model to follow, but I also had to make adjustments to fit my topic and main point. Overall, the experience allowed me to express my ideas in a unique and creative way, and I hope that my proposal will inspire others to think about new and innovative approaches to education.
