Have you ever wanted longer school days ? I know what you are thinking this chick is crazy for asking me this question. Right? Think about the advantages or the disadvantages, if you want, to a longer school day but there is many facts about each and you can argue both sides . I for one would love to have a longer school day , you may be wondering why I would like to have a longer school day and what's so great about having a longer day in school. Well, I'm just going to have to tell you if you don't know why .

When having a regular 6.5 hour school day , kids think it's too much to have for school, but the truth is its too little. Teachers don't get enough time to get through all the lessons or projects before it's time to leave at the end of the day . Many teachers need and want longer school days to teach the students everything they have plan and not just set aside to be forgotten. Teachers need the extra time to get through everything they want to teach and what they want to do with the class not just make a plan and don't follow through with the rest of their plan .It would be just a big waste of time to make a plan and wouldn't be able to finish through the plan.

However, students need the longer school day too, because many students don't get to sit down with the teachers and get help. You may think they should just get a tutor and they can get help that way but many students can't afford tutors . Longer school days for students would be better 'cause it would give them an advantages to get help during school hours then going home and not knowing what to do at all. We do need longer school days for the students and teachers,a smart teacher once said " Longer hours means more knowledge and smarter people are better citizens."

Yet, many people say it's bad for students have longer school days because it takes time out of there family time which is true. Parents of children that are behind in school think that their children would get even more behind the rest of the class.I'm not saying there wrong but many parents really don't know if their children are going to be behind more with longer school days, they might catch up with the rest of the children. The children can catch up on work and homework they really don't get to do or don't understand.

On the other hand, President Obama also wants longer school day for America and for the schools to stay open late and on the weekend to give kids a safe place to go . "Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas," Obama said "Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom." President Obama is right about challenges in the century we are in and we do need more time in classrooms not just for the teachers but for the teachers, too.

Overall, we do need longer school days to benefit children that need help on subjects and homework. Teachers that need more time for their students during the day and more time to thoroughly go through lessons instead of speeding through them. We need longer school days for this nation to help advise students to do better in their school work. Their progress will go up and they would have better test scores on their big states test . I for one, would like to have a longer school day and I hope you do to .

What inspired to choose theis piece and write about it because many kids don't get enough time in school for thee stuff they need help with . Many people don't understand what they have to do and need help from thee teacher but doesn't really have enough time to. I experienced this in 7the grade when I was falling be hind the other kids in the class , I didn't really understood the home work we got each night . My mom tried to help he understand the homework but it didn't help. The next day I had told my teacher and he had helped me with the things I didn't understand . I wanted longer school days to help students who don't understand stuff ,understand it.

I think this article is really good, I am doing a persuasive research paper for my 9th grade honors English class about practicly the same topic, although it is increasing the number of school days in a year. I only clicked on this link because I though it was someone complaining about it, but this is a good factual piece.
