Dear Teen Ink,

Why does school have to start so early? With a different school schedule, kids would be able to participate in out of school activities. Such as sports, clubs, and even spending time with friends and family. For example, you could start school later and end later. That would allow us to have more sleep, and more sleep leads to a sharper brain. Also it would lead to us kids paying more attention during class, because we would be more awake. Another example is starting earlier and ending earlier. Like I said before, it will let us kids get more free time to concentrate on sports, especially since the amount of obesity has gone up by more than 30% in the last 2 years. A different school schedule could help with having enough time for sports, and other activities. Although starting earlier leads to less sleep, it would make an impact in our daily life. With a different school schedule, the school day would have the same amount of hours, and still serve lunch. The only difference is that we would get more time to sleep in, or more time to do extracurricular activities. Taking notice of this possible change of the school schedules could help a lot.

Sincerely,

Tori
