Women's Rights Opinion Essay

I once knew someone with unrealistic beliefs, that may not be so unrealistic. It could happen, it truly could however, I believe they are incorrect and are actually very unrealistic. I won't give names but they wanted women and girls back to the rules in the 1800s.  They thought women belonged in the kitchen and nowhere else, just for the satisfaction of a “man”. Finding out about that hurt, a lot. I never thought they’d say something like that specifically around so many people who are beyond proud of how far women have fought for rights over the years.


Women’s rights made young girls and grown women do things differently in the 1800s than in 2023. They have gotten much better in my opinion than from what they were in the 1800s. 2023 is only about 200 years after the year 1800, but the amount of rules and laws women have to follow has either gone down and gotten easier or they got much worse. The right’s women had made females do and respect certain things in the world that can be and are slightly different in many other places of the world, meaning they didn't have many rights to do much with their lives. According to the Amnesty International website, women worldwide still suffer from the crazy stupid rules mostly made by men.


The rules and laws women and young girls had to follow back in the 1800s were strict, unfair, and not equal to a man’s rights. That’s what upsets me the most, back then men thought they were better than females and made many laws unfair for both. I would like to believe that if everything back then was equal then we wouldn't have many problems today. The Archives website, ‘Declaration of independence: A transcription’  says “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” in my way of thinking of this it is pretty incorrect for women's rights, if it's all supposed to be equal then why isn't it. I guess the fact that time does change many things and the rights of humans are one of the many things that have changed over the years but it still applies that women's and men's rights are not equal and may never be completely equal because of what we were born with or what we become.


Yes, the rights for men and women got better over the years and women fought so hard for that privilege but why would women have to fight for something when men’s rights were achieved so long ago. I might sound like a hardcore feminist but all I'm saying is men should fight for what they want and make it the same for women. Elizabeth Cady Stanton made the first convention meeting for women's rights in Seneca Falls, New York, in the year 1848. Under the lead of Stanton Mott and Susan B. Anthony, they asked for and did improve laws including child custody, divorce, and property rights however, I’m not saying men are bad or all men are like what they were back in the 1800s but then again, some are but most are much much better than how they treated women in the 1800s era. 


The voting rules are probably what most are happy about, even though they are less than one-hundred years old. People fought for women's rights to do things, as in go to the government and protest to allow women to vote for presidents, judges, and sentitors. In my opinion, women's rights should still get better, they are pretty good now but I feel they should still get a bit more equal to a man's rights. The women's community of young girls and old women have been trying to make the world fair between guys and girls but it still doesn't have an impact in some places everywhere around the US states women’s rights have legally changed and got so much better than from what they were before in the 1800s. Therefore, women’s rights made girls and women do things differently in the 1800s than in 2023. 


In my conclusion, this is almost all, completely wrong because if women went back to the laws and rules they had in the 1800’s the world would be chaotic in my opinion. Women have come so far to make it where we are today and women have to keep it up because some men can't keep their big mouths shut about things women do wrong. Men happen to always say stuff like: “You can’t dress like that” “too short” “not big enough chest” all this and women can’t control it. Women were treated badly back then and still are, yes it did get much better but there are still some guys who dictate every little thing a woman does or doesn't do. Just the fact men don't get criticized as much as a girl and also the fact that some guys think women only belong in the kitchen and the bedroom to please the man disgusts me. But hey, it's a weird unfair world we all live in so might as well try and fight for what we want… Right?
