In contemporary times, many people prioritize success as the ultimate goal in life and strive to achieve it through any means necessary. However, I firmly believe that happiness and a positive attitude toward life should take precedence over success. It is crucial to prioritize our well-being and maintain happiness throughout our lives.

First and foremost, success is not as permanent as mental well-being. While success may be temporary and subject to change, a positive attitude can consistently fuel one's motivation to work hard. One may succeed in one endeavor but face failures in others in the future. Financial success can also be unpredictable and fleeting. However, with a resilient mindset, individuals can face difficulties and failures with perseverance and determination. Let's consider the example of my friend, Via. Via worked at a shoe factory and was recently promoted to a managerial position. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Via was let go from her job, shattering her temporary success. Nevertheless, Via approached this situation with a positive attitude. She took some time off, embarked on a journey of self-discovery through travel, and used the experience to enhance herself. Now, Via has started her own company, and her situation is gradually improving. This illustrates that success is not as enduring as one's attitude. A consistently positive attitude is what sustains us during challenging times.

Moreover, maintaining an optimistic outlook when faced with failures can lead to personal growth and improvement. If one reacts to failures with negativity, those failures become meaningless. However, adopting an optimistic attitude towards failure enables individuals to transform seemingly adverse events into positive ones. By learning from past mistakes, one can develop their character and achieve greater success in their career. On the other hand, success only provides a favorable outcome but lacks the educational value that failures possess. As Thomas Edison once said, "Failure is the mother of success." If we can handle failures properly, they can be just as valuable, if not more valuable, than success itself.

Lastly, maintaining a positive attitude towards failure can help us navigate through the uncertainties of life more effectively. As the saying goes in China, "Many things in life do not go as we expect." Therefore, we must develop the right mindset when faced with unexpected situations. For example, when applying to colleges, most people aspire to be accepted by their top-choice early-decision institution. However, it can be highly selective and challenging to get accepted. The majority of individuals may have to settle for their second-choice or even less preferred options. In such circumstances, we must learn to approach failures with positivity and optimism. This mindset proves to be more useful in real-life experiences.

To summarize, fostering an optimistic attitude towards failure is indeed more important than solely chasing success. Without optimism, we would struggle to overcome obstacles and challenges commonplace in life, and we would miss out on valuable lessons from our mistakes. The enduring impact of a positive attitude further solidifies its significance. It is high time that we embrace optimism as a priority over mere success.
